Mary Ward (1585 - 1645)

Foundress of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary

STUDENT COUNCIL- 2019-20

In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, “Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education”

Knowledge is the fuel that drives human life and gives one the power to distinguish between the good and the bad. It gives one a broad understanding and helps develop an individualistic point of view. However, mere knowledge and intellect does not complete an individual. Character and personality are the assets that will make one choose the good and shun the bad.

When one identifies herself as a Loreto girl, she commits herself to integrity, honesty and the zest to leave her mark in the world. This has been manifested for almost two-hundred years by the millions of students who have passed through the hallowed portals of Loreto institutions having received not only the power of knowledge but a strong value system. This value system has inspired young girls to devote themselves to honesty and dignity, as well as respect for all beings

In keeping with our foundress Mary Ward’s philosophy, Loreto House empowers young girls and inculcates within them a spirit of service and a desire for knowledge and excellence. It teaches them to be confident and ambitious, but at the same time humble and compassionate.

As Head Girl of the school, I strongly believe that every Loreto girl is an empowered young individual, a future leader, ready to inspire, collaborate and contribute to the world as a representative of Loreto ideals.
