Foundress of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary
On the 15th of July, 50 students from classes 8 and 9 went to Khardah for an environmental trip where each of us planted a sapling; making a difference in a small way.
Early morning this Saturday we started for our destination from school on a bus. Within an hour of boarding the bus, we reached Khardah Municipal Office where we were warmly greeted with gifts and breakfast.
After which we traveled the short distances on “totes” to Bharati Sangha Club, and Laha Bagan Club for the plantations. Then we visited the 500-year-old Shyam Mandir before going to a park to rest.
We also found time to engage in a friendly environmental debate with the topic “Conservation and Development do not go Hand-in-hand” and have a lively Quiz Session followed by with Stand-Up comedy round, all of which found an audience with the current Agriculture Minister.
As a part of this trip, we learned to be mindful of our environment and take responsibility for it. We’d like to thank Mrs. A. Gomes for this invaluable experience and our LTS club animators Mrs.Singh, Mrs. Saha, and Ms. Joshi for accompanying us and being supportive throughout.
And last but not least kudos to all who came for the trip for being so enthusiastic and being a good sport!
90, Saplings have been planted between mid October and November 2016.
